The Vixa plug-in device gathers data about your car's health, like engine performance, battery life cycle and location (if enabled). Vixa uses this to provide you with car health insights, to alert you about issues, and to offer you proactive maintenance advice.
Your data won't be used to increase your car insurance premiums, shared outside of the AA or sold to third parties. If we make any changes to our policy, we will always ask for your consent first. For more on how we handle your data, read the Vixa privacy notice.
Think of it as a health tracker for your vehicle – a small device that connects to your car's OBD port (onboard diagnostics). Your plug-in device collects data from sources in your car (such as your engine or battery) that we can use to understand your car's health and offer proactive maintenance advice.
It's simple and only takes a few minutes. There's more detail in our fitment guide, which you'll find via the Support page within the Vixa app.
1. Find the On-board diagnostics (OBD) port. It's usually under the dashboard near the steering wheel. This is the port mechanics use to diagnose your car. During the process of signing up, we'll try to show you approximately where it is.
2. Fit your Vixa plug-in device firmly into the port, then wait 30 minutes before starting your engine. In some cases, starting the engine immediately can cause issues.
Please be patient as your device calibrates. Unplugging and reconnecting the device will slow down the process.
The plug-in device is loaned to you free of charge as part of your subscription. However if you choose to cancel, it is your responsibility to return the device to us by following the instructions on our returns page.
If you want to move your Vixa plug-in device to another vehicle: 1. Remove the Vixa plug-in device from your old vehicle. 2. Contact the Customer Service team via phone (0330 053 0466) or WhatsApp (0330 053 0913) and they will change the vehicle in the app. 3. Fit the Vixa plug-in device into the new vehicle. It will start gathering data from the new vehicle as soon as it's plugged in.
That’s not a problem, simply reconnect your plug-in device and it will work as normal, as long as you have an active subscription and you’re using the same vehicle.
If you think your plug-in device has stopped working, follow these easy steps to reset it:
Unplug the plug-in device from your vehicle.
Leave the plug-in device disconnected for at least 30 minutes.
Plug the plug-in device back in
Check the status of the plug-in device. When the plug-in device has been successfully reconnected, the LED light on the plug-in device will flash rapidly.
After taking a couple of journeys, you'll be able to see updates about your vehicle's health in the app again.
If you’re still having issues, give us a call 0330 053 0466 or contact us via WhatsApp on 0330 053 0913.
